Honda supports FIBO

Bangkok, 24 June 2008 - Mr. Adisak Rohitasune (standing, first row: 4th from left), Senior Vice President of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., representing the Honda Group of Companies in Thailand presented a 442,500 baht grant to Associate Professor Dr. Kraiwood Kiattikomol, (second row: 4th from left), President of King Mongkut University of Technology - Thonburi and Associate Professor Dr. Djitt Laowattana (standing, first row: 3nd from right), Director of the Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO). The funds will support the development of small-sized humanoid robots to enter the world RoboCup Soccer Humanoid League 2008 that will take place in Suzhou, China between July 14-20, 2008.
In 2008, the Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO) developed the 5th generation of humanoid robots including the KM-1, KM-2, KM-3 and KM-4 version. Capabilities of the new version have been improved in many areas including a stable 2 legged walking system, the ability to stand up after falling down, an optical navigation system to track and localize objects and a communication system to avoid collisions between robots that are tracking the same target.
