Honda School Environmental Challenge:
Create a national network of "Green Schools"
Since 1999 the Honda Group of Companies in Thailand has been funding The Honda School Environmental Challenge, Thailand's largest school-based, environmental action programme. Thus far 540 schools and communities from all of the Kingdom's 76 provinces have received funding to implement sustainable environmental conservation projects, thereby creating a nationwide network of Green Schools.
Honda started the School Environmental Challenge to celebrate His Majesty the King's 72nd birthday and to honour His Majesty's long-term commitment to the preservation of Thailand's environment. Honda was deeply honoured to receive His Majesty's permission to present His Majesty the King's Cup to the school demonstrating the most outstanding commitment to preserving the environment in each cycle of the project.
2006 was another auspicious year with the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King's Accession to the Throne while 2007 marks the celebration of His Majesty's 80th Birthday Anniversary. As a special tribute to His Majesty, the Honda Group of Companies in Thailand launched the Honda School Environmental Challenge IV, under the Follow The King's Path with Honda theme, to support His Majesty's desire for the Thai people to protect their environment and conserve energy.
